This is what the Bangalore based venture “Eatongo.in” is telling you. No, it’s not just a statement. They make sure you do have time for breakfast, by providing you with one on the go. All you have to do is eat.
Udit Saran, Taru Raaj Agarwal and Dr. Chef Gregory Lobo are the founders of this venture which answers to your breakfast and brunch calls. How did they decide to embark on this noble mission? Looked around, and saw many people struggling with mornings, skipping breakfasts, rushing for their meetings, or settling for the limited options available outside. The Eatongo.in team observed that lunch and dinner menus had a lot of options, whereas breakfast menus outside are pretty standard. Very often, they state, it is a battle between necessity and time, which makes breakfast a very mechanical experience.
Once they saw a potential for this concept, they set out to do a social media survey. What did they find? More than 65% of people skip breakfast at least twice a week, and more than 80% buy their breakfast outside.
Udit comes from a food engineering background with experience in the R&D division of various food companies. Taru has an IT background with experience in marketing and analytics before reaching out to the businessman in him. Chef Lobo has a Doctorate in Hospitality, and is an alumnus of IHMCT&AN. With all the essential skills and experience under their belt, this team decided that Eatongo.in was their answer to the findings of the survey. Eatongo.in started in February 2015, and within a span of almost 2 months, they already have more than 1000 customers, out of whom 40% are repeat customers. They have even been featured in the list of “The Great Breakfasts of Bangalore” by Zomato.
Let’s talk about the menu, shall we? Eatongo.in started with a small menu, essentially based on what most people preferred to have for breakfast/brunch. They then reached out to their customers and asked them to name dishes they would like to have, but are not that easily available
If you look at the Eatongo.in menu today, on one hand you will find our regular favourites like Aloo Poori, Kachori Sabzi, or Masala Poha. You will also find options like French toasts, Pancakes, or Pesto and Egg sandwich. Don’t feel like settling with one of the above, you can order from their spread of brunch options which include American Joy, Bhojpuri or an Anti-hangover brunch. One of the things I realized while talking to this team was that, they know they themselves are a part of the audience Eatongo.in is targeting. So, when the Navaratri season was around, Udit knew that his own craving for Sooji ka halwa would be highly reciprocated by Eatongo.in customers. Sure enough it was a big hit.
Just like the Sooji ka halwa, the response of Eatongo.in is also a big hit. The team was proud to admit that they crossed their first month target by 150% and their second month target by 200%. The team strongly believes in delivering food that is of good quality and tastes great. This is their advice to future entrepreneurs as well. Once you make these two things your priority, the rest will follow, they add.
Eatongo.in aims to become the one stop solution for all the foodies who want a good breakfast/ brunch to start their day on the right note. Their future plans include expanding their areas of delivery and as always adding delicious food to their ever evolving menu. We wish them good luck.
